Why I'm not making Lego videos.

Recently I officially put A Bus Studios into hatius. I haven't made a video on that channel in a long time and I don't see myself uploading any new videos anytime soon. There are several reasons why I'm not making anymore videos.

(1) My most loyal fans would know that I've started year 11 and the workload is higher than all my previous years of schooling. I'm spending more time studying and doing schoolwork than ever before. It wont be better much year either as thats when I start year 12, my final year of education (thats unless I decide to go to TAFE or university).

(2) Another important reason is that I've lost motivation for making Lego's. Legona Brickville hasn't been touched in ages and me and my parents made the recent decision to take it down all together as it's just sitting there collecting dust. So far the airport has been dissasembled with the rest of the town to go within the next couple of weeks.

(3) Ever since these new channels came out, Youtube has become boring. I feel as though the community was destroyed when these new channels came out. No one goes on other channels and comments on them anymore. All the channels are is some dull lifeless page. Previously everyone was commenting away on other peoples channels, everything was all together on the one page which made browsing the channel easy and everyone had the ability to customise their channels completely. When the new channels came along, all of this was taken away.

(4) The biggest reason however is my commitment to other hobbies. As some of you may know I have always loved trains. I used to upload on Abus709 some trains at my local station and at the big Flinders Street station recording electric suburban trains. Over the last 10 months thanks to my HD camcorder, I have been able to expand my hobby. It's now expanded so far that it's now what I spend all my leisure time on, recording transport related videos and uploading them to youtube. Through all of this, I've made a number of new friends who are other transport enthusiasts from all over Melbourne. We all go out on day trips going to various locatins recording and taking photos of trains and buses (and to model railway shows where my friends who have money have a shopping spree on new model trains). I've also gained the confidence to get out of the house and venture far far away to film various things. Both of these I wouldn't have gained from continuing to make Lego films. I feel as though I've become more independent and have developed more as a person thanks to this hobby and I don't think I'm going to quit it anytime soon.

Even though I barely use Abus709 anymore, I still use my other channel ThebusofdoomFSX quite frequently. Infact, I shouldn't even be calling it my other channel anymore as I now see it as my main youtube channel. Sure it doesn't have over a million channel views and a thousand subscribers, but it's updated frequently with new videos and it's part of a hobby that I enjoy. I even made a Facebook page for it. Now I know all 970 of my youtube subscribers aren't going to start watching my train videos all of a sudden and subscribe to the other channel, but it's always there if you want to look at it.

Update 26th February 2012.

I haven't posted a blog post in a while, so I'd thought I'd update yous all on everything thats been going on in my life.

Unfortunently this year, I've started VCE (Victorian Certificate of Education), aka: Year 11 and 12. Yes, I'm now in the final 2 years of my high school career and in these two years, I really do have to study hard, which means that I won't have as much time to do the things I want to do anymore, and the time in which I'm not studying would probably be used to play video games like Minecraft and Halo. Oh, did I also mention that I have to study hard? Hmm, I don't think I did, so yea, I have to study hard this year and next year. What else? Oh yea, I have to study hard. So I think yous all get the point now that I have to study hard. I might also be getting a job sometime this year which won't help things.

However, it's not all bad news. On ThebusofdoomFSX, I still got heaps of videos from Queensland to upload, although I won't be recording any new videos for that channel, except bus videos and when I plan to go to the Steamrail open day on March 11th (its a long weekend as well). For Abus709, I recently found a lego short I made involving Claude which is fully filmed. It's not the best in the world but it won't take long to edit and upload. I also found while searching through my computer, the "Brickville episodes". The Brickville Episodes are some of my earliest stop motions (even earlier than my first youtube video, Lego Race). Its all completely stop motion so I can easily add a script to it, voices and sounds and stuff, then upload it. So expect those two things in the near future. In more good news, I was recently appointed the male Captain of the Performing Arts at my school and my art teacher wants to try and set up a movie club at the school so we can all make films for the school's short film festival, so I might have to make a Lego movie for that. I have no idea what it will be yet.

Also, I think that i'm only just going to create Lego short films from now on. I don't think I want to create long epic movies anymore. I loose enthusiasm for it mid way though. I have some Lego shorts in my head that I want to make. I also might be uploading the occasional Minecraft video.

And don't forget to like ThebusofdoomFSX on Facebook! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Thebusofdooms-Transport-Videos/154523807992938?bookmark_t=page

Well thats me updated. Thanks for reading.

A quote I like.

"People hate cause 'HATING' Is affordable. Its free. But success? That costs work & dedication, and haters can't afford that."

My oldest Youtube friend diegodaudt has had that quote on his youtube channel for a long time now, so I thought I should share it with you.

Diegodaudt used to make random Lego videos, although over the years he's deleted most of them. He's still got some on his channel though and these days he makes Flight Simulator X videos, like this one.

Christmas.

I hope that all my fans, subscriptions and subscribers had a very happy Christmas and got everything they wanted. If you must know what I got, I recieved 2 Lego sets, the 5771 Hillside House and the 4644 Marina. I've already built the Marina but not the House. I'll finish that later. Even then I finish them I won't be able to add them into Legona Brickville because the town is in a bad state right now which is actually required for my next film that I want to work on, Neglected. I will do a review on both of those sets, and I might buy some of the new 2012 sets when they come out. I also got 2 t-shirts and a railway book. Yea, I didn't get much, but no matter.

I've also been trainspotting again yesterday. I haven't uploaded the videos but I will soon. When they are uploaded though, they will be up on this channel. http://www.youtube.com/user/ThebusofdoomFSX

Well, thats it from me for now. Have a happy new year everyone!

Neglected.

Hooray! I have 1000 subscribers!!! Actually theres no point in celebrating because this is now the 3rd time I've hit 1000 subscribers. The reason for this is because people are unsubscribing. So why do people unsubscribe? Simple, the owner of the channel has made no videos. This is the case with me as I haven't made a proper video in ages. Thankfully just now I thought of a video idea which I actually want to make which involves Lego's, however this lego film will be very different from my others. I'm calling this video "Neglected". Don't worry about the dark name, the video will have some humour in it. I will make a trailer of it.

Fail advertising.

Don't you love those moments when advertising is placed somewhere on a news source and then an article pops up that says something bad about the company/organization being advertised? This is a good example of that type of fail. This news website, the Herald Sun has advertising all over the place of the police and their campaign to stop reckless driving. Now look at today's top article: "Wedding hoon police won't touch". If you don't know, a hoon is a person who does reckless driving, usually speeding and doing burnouts, most likely in an old Holden. Kind of goes against what the police are trying to enforce, don't you think?

Infected, AGAIN!!!

You's aren't going to believe this, but once again the Super Bus Computer has fallen victim to another virus. It's playing havoc with the computer once again. The most annoying thing though is, MY DAD INFECTED IT!!! I SAW HIM DO IT WITH MY VERY OWN EYES!!! Here's what happened. I needed a certain program to install a Minecraft mod. Dad gets the program from his computer and puts it onto mine. When the folder is copied onto my computer and he tries to run whats inside it, all my security programs send warnings saying that the file is infected with a virus and blocks any process to do with it. Even Windows Firewall was blocking it. Despite all of these warnings, dad runs the file anyway which then infects the computer, sabotaging my security software and once again redirecting my search results on Goggle. Once again then, I can't make any videos. Worst start to the summer holiday ever!

I wish I'd known this earlier.

Yay! Now that I've found this, I can now stop all the junk mail that I recieve from random people every now and again. Unfortunently ticking that box also means that I won't be able to recieve messages from my fans, so looks like I'm going to have to leave it unticked...

Friday, 25 November 2011

Hmm...

Looks like the channel comments are malfunctioning. I've never seen these two comments (to be approved) before and after 4 days, only now do they appear. Hmm...

Great news!

And no, its got nothing to do with anything A Bus Studios related.

Anyway yesterday I bought Minecraft! Yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's so much fun and addictive!!!!!!!! I wanna go play it right now!

Unfortunately to the bad news. I can't play it much right now as I still got exams to do. My exams start this coming Thursday and finish on the 1st of December. I finish school on the 2nd of December and then my summer holidays start. I'll be at home for 6 weeks doing whatever I want and then for the last 2 weeks of my holiday I will be in the Gold Coast.

So yea, I can't play it much right now but when exam's are finished I'll play it much more. I also plan to do some other stuff like continue working on MSTS Melbourne Chronicles and film some Lego stuff. I haven't posted a video in ages...

Claude game updates?

I was bored just now so I decided to play The Claude Game. Its very addictive and fun to play if you're bored and just want to do something quick and entertaining. I had good fun with it but eventually I quit the game. Why? Level 8. This is the hardest level of the game but I think I've made it too hard. I always get shot by the orange bot. I tried and tried to pass the level but I just couldn't so I got bored and quit.

I've always intended for level 8 to be the hardest level but if I can't complete it myself, then we got a problem. When I started making this game I planned to make improved versions of the game with additional features and stuff. One was version 1.2 which was to have a start menu and some level tweaks. After that I would make version 1.3 which would have additional levels. The only problem is that no one has downloaded the game much. As of now The Claude Game video has 1,219 views but only 66 people have actually downloaded it. A bit disappointing. I will consider making version 1.2 once the game gets 100 downloads and version 1.3 when the game gets 200 downloads.

Updates.

Just a quick update on various things. I'll put them in dot point form and it will be short, sharp and simple.

  • Can't make any vids due to upcoming end of year exams.
  • Super Bitch Virus is now gone from my Super Bus Computer but all the programs haven't been reinstalled yet.
  • Although my editing program has been reinstalled, and so has Halo :D
  • Went trainfilming again. Uploaded the vids onto ThebusofdoomFSX.
  • Still working of The Comengerg Site. It's getting there.
  • Will soon unveil a new project for the members of Comengerg.
  • Realized that my Samsung camera is a b****. Sony camcorder working well. I love it.
  • Got some ideas for some new comedy movies (that don't have Claude as a main character. WOW!)
  • Really want to continue MSTS Melbourne Chronicles but MSTS hasn't been reinstalled yet and I've lost some movie files. Oh well.
  • Going to the Gold Coast for 2 weeks in late January.
So that's it. Bye!

Why I wish I had 1364 subscribers.

So then I could say that I have more subscribers than the Australian Liberal Party.

The Comengerg Site: Coming soon.

Unfortunately my Super Bus Computer is still infected. It's now been 2 weeks since it has been infected and I'm so bored. I so want it to be all fixed so I can play Halo, Sim City 4 and Train Simulator again and make videos. But in a way the virus has been a good thing for A Bus Studios. Because I have nothing better to do I've decided to continue work on The Comengerg Site.

Last week I've opened up the site to the other Comengerg members who are adding in the info for their cities into the site. The site looks great and is just about complete. In bad news though, my exams start in a month's time and I have to start studying for them which means I won't have much time to work on the site and any other project. Next week I have three assessment tasks due so I have to work on them as well. Very annoying. As a result it may be until December that the site is released.

INFECTED!!! Infection identified.

It's now been 1 week since my Super Bus Computer has been infected and so far all we've done is back up certain files and heaps of virus scans with no avail. Just now though I managed to identify the virus: Rootkit.win32.ZAccess.e

This is apparently a very nasty virus used by hackers and can redirect internet searches, block programs, slow computer performance and bring up unexpected pop ups. My computer has had all these symptoms. Now that the virus has been identified, now we can get somewhere and try to remove it completely.

INFECTED!!!

INFECTED!!! Sounds like a title for an upcomping movie. Unfortunately it isn't. This entire blog post has to do with my Super Bus Computer (my desktop computer). Unfortunately the Super Bus Computer has been infected by a virus. It's one of those virus' that redirects your search results in google and sends you to random advertising sites. That alone doesn't sound bad but it's also playing havoc with some of my other programs. It's disabled some of my security software (and oddly Sim City 4 which I only got working again 2 weeks ago. Stupid virus). Anyway because of this I've started backing up some of my important files onto an external hard-drive and my netbook (which hasn't been infected). The only video material that is being backed up is train videos and MSTS Melbourne Chronicles stuff. I don't have enough time or space to back up anything else. As a result I cannot make any videos right now.

Even if I had no virus, I wouldn't be making much videos anyway. I'm now in Term 4 and my end of year exam's are coming up soon and I have to start studying for them. I still however got some train videos to upload on ThebusofdoomFSX so I'll do that as soon as possible.

Preview of my next film.

Here is some photos of some filming I did just now for my latest movie which will be released in 2 weeks time.

If you are wondering, in the last 2 shots the plane is being held up by fishing string. No smacy effects here. These images only show a small part of what the movie will be like. As you can see in the first photo the script for the movie is only one and a half pages long so the movie won't be that long but you's won't be dissapointed :)

Updates

I was going to update this earlier but stupid Blogger was broken.

Anyway I recieved my new camcorder a while ago and it's absolutely brilliant. Over the past week I've taken it train filming. Yesterday I went to Newport to film a steam train and a week ago I went to Laverton and Aircraft station's to film some trains there.

This coming Saturday though I won't do any trainfilming as I must get cracking on my film for the talent show. I will be experimenting with new filming techniques so hopefully it will turn out good. After that though I probably won't do any animating for a while as I really want to focus on trainfilming and working on the MSTS Melbourne Chronicles.

Dear iPod.

No!!! I do not need to be reminded that I have 20% of battery life remaining as I can obviously see in the top right hand corner of the screen that I have less than 20% left as the battery indicator is red. I don't need a big notification to tell me the obvious. Do you think i'm blind Mr iPod, that I cannot see the battery life indicator?

Just a random rant. Hopefully this will be fixed in iOS 5 whenether it comes out.

HD Camcorder coming soon.

My new HD Camcorder has been ordered! Hip hip hooray! So, what camcorder have I ordered?

I've ordered the Sony Handycam HDR-CX110B from a shop based up in Queensland. It's Sony's entry level HD camcorder. There are a number of reasons as to why I ordered it.

(1) It was one of the 4 HD Camcorders I was considering. The others were the JVC Everio GZ-HM445, Panasonic HDC-SD40 and the SamsungHMX-H300. All of which are under $500 AUD.
(2) Unfortunently all of them seemed to have an achilles heel. The JVC for instance has heaps of features and is the best value for money but I read that the video sensor is only 1.5 megapixels so whilst it will be recording in a HD resolution it won't be recording in proper HD quality (A camcorder needs at least 2 megapixels to properly record HD quality).
(3) The Panasonic seemed to offer better video quality than the JVC and has an awesome telemacro mode and like the JVC it comes with a little LED light so you can record in the dark. Unfortunently thats all it has. It has no features at all. No touchscreen, only 16x optical zoom. Pathetic.
(4) The Samsung all seemed good on paper and in practise with heaps of features and good video quality. Unfortunently I own a Samsung camera (ES65) and I can't say that it's been smooth sailings as I've had a couple of problems with it. It works fine though...right now...
(5) The Sony seemed to be a mix of all of these camcorders. Touch screen, 25x optical zoom, good video quality.
(6) Seen a couple of train videos filmed with this camera and the quality was really good. Filming trains is the main thing i'm going to film using this.
(7) Price. In retail stores it usually costs $500 but I managed to get it for $395 with full manufactures warranty. Bargain!

Hopefully it will arrive soon so I can start filming some trains with it on my weekends :)
