Preview of my next film.

Here is some photos of some filming I did just now for my latest movie which will be released in 2 weeks time.

If you are wondering, in the last 2 shots the plane is being held up by fishing string. No smacy effects here. These images only show a small part of what the movie will be like. As you can see in the first photo the script for the movie is only one and a half pages long so the movie won't be that long but you's won't be dissapointed :)

Updates

I was going to update this earlier but stupid Blogger was broken.

Anyway I recieved my new camcorder a while ago and it's absolutely brilliant. Over the past week I've taken it train filming. Yesterday I went to Newport to film a steam train and a week ago I went to Laverton and Aircraft station's to film some trains there.

This coming Saturday though I won't do any trainfilming as I must get cracking on my film for the talent show. I will be experimenting with new filming techniques so hopefully it will turn out good. After that though I probably won't do any animating for a while as I really want to focus on trainfilming and working on the MSTS Melbourne Chronicles.

Dear iPod.

No!!! I do not need to be reminded that I have 20% of battery life remaining as I can obviously see in the top right hand corner of the screen that I have less than 20% left as the battery indicator is red. I don't need a big notification to tell me the obvious. Do you think i'm blind Mr iPod, that I cannot see the battery life indicator?

Just a random rant. Hopefully this will be fixed in iOS 5 whenether it comes out.

HD Camcorder coming soon.

My new HD Camcorder has been ordered! Hip hip hooray! So, what camcorder have I ordered?

I've ordered the Sony Handycam HDR-CX110B from a shop based up in Queensland. It's Sony's entry level HD camcorder. There are a number of reasons as to why I ordered it.

(1) It was one of the 4 HD Camcorders I was considering. The others were the JVC Everio GZ-HM445, Panasonic HDC-SD40 and the SamsungHMX-H300. All of which are under $500 AUD.
(2) Unfortunently all of them seemed to have an achilles heel. The JVC for instance has heaps of features and is the best value for money but I read that the video sensor is only 1.5 megapixels so whilst it will be recording in a HD resolution it won't be recording in proper HD quality (A camcorder needs at least 2 megapixels to properly record HD quality).
(3) The Panasonic seemed to offer better video quality than the JVC and has an awesome telemacro mode and like the JVC it comes with a little LED light so you can record in the dark. Unfortunently thats all it has. It has no features at all. No touchscreen, only 16x optical zoom. Pathetic.
(4) The Samsung all seemed good on paper and in practise with heaps of features and good video quality. Unfortunently I own a Samsung camera (ES65) and I can't say that it's been smooth sailings as I've had a couple of problems with it. It works fine though...right now...
(5) The Sony seemed to be a mix of all of these camcorders. Touch screen, 25x optical zoom, good video quality.
(6) Seen a couple of train videos filmed with this camera and the quality was really good. Filming trains is the main thing i'm going to film using this.
(7) Price. In retail stores it usually costs $500 but I managed to get it for $395 with full manufactures warranty. Bargain!

Hopefully it will arrive soon so I can start filming some trains with it on my weekends :)

Backstory:
The game is based in the Lego town of Legona Brickville.
Claude has decided that enough is enough and has finally decided that he will get his petal (Alex) by using any means necessary.
Claude has built some Claude bots (robots) throughout the town so that he can capture Alex all for himself.
Alex finds out and has to escape the town so he can get away from Claude and his Claude bots.

This project was done for my ICT class at school. It took an entire school term to make and a lot of effort was put into it so I hope yous all enjoy it. If you have any questions leave a comment or message on youtube.

In good news I've gained some of my entusiasm to make Lego videos, mostly because I've finally solved my stupid audio problems. Thanks to Virginbluepilot27 (even though he doesn't know how he helped me). In bad news though I'm not going to make any lego videos for a little while. Reason being is that I want to make some more episodes of the MSTS Melbourne Cronicles on my second channel. It won't be long before I made Lego videos though as I have to start making my entry for the school's talent show.

I also plan soon to buy a HD Camcorder. I've seen one that I like at a price I can affoard. The only thing stopping me from getting it is that it's an online purchase and I need my brother to put the money into the Paypal account.

Also my part of the Comengerg site is now complete. I hope to have the site ready within the next week or so.

Updates

It's a nice sunny day today and all my relatives have left. What does this mean? It means that I can start filming the latest town update. It's going to be like all the other town updates but this one is going to have a intro with stop motion :) So I'll be working on that within the next couple of days. I also got a suprise project that I've been working on for school. It's done but it needs an intro. Hopefully that should be done within the next week. Also I'm nearly done with my part of the Comengerg site. After the town update I'll update the Legona Brickville section, invite the other members of the country to edit their sections and release the site to the public. Yay! I'm also planning on saving up to buy a new HD camcorder. I should have one by Christmas but hopefully I should get it earlier.

On ThebusofdoomFSX I'm working on the MSTS Melbourne Chronicles again. I can't give a definite due date for all the upcoming episodes but i'll release a trailer when the time is near.

Alt channels, why???

Creating a 2nd channel on youtube can be a good way to spread your content and find new fans but in my opinion some people completely stuff it up when creating a 2nd channel. I believe that there should be some kind of "unofficial criteria" that you have to meet before creating an alt channel. There is no point, for example in creating a 2nd channel when your main channel doesn't even have 1,000 total video views. No one will watch it and there will be no advantage once so ever in making the new channel. All your attention should be focused on getting your main channel started and getting a decent amount of views.

So when should you make a 2nd channel? In my opinion this should be the criteria:

• Having 50,000 total video views minimum. Add least 100,000 reccomended.
• Having a regular fan base.
• When you want to start posting content that is different from the current content on your main channel. Eg: You make lego videos on your main channel but you want to start uploading train videos.

That example is what happened with me and my "3rd channel" ThebusofdoomFSX. I've got heaps of train videos on my main channel Abus709 however I decided to make a new channel for that kind of stuff. You wouldn't be happy for example if you subscribed to my main channel for the train videos only to get bombarded with lego videos in the subscription section. That's not why you subscribed to my main channel in the first place. By making ThebusofdoomFSX I moved all my simulation, train and plane videos over to that channel so transport fans can subscribe for that type of content and only recieve that type of content in the subscriptions section. Overall ThebusofdoomFSX has been successful with over 60,000 total video views and over 250 subscribers.

There is also no point in my opinion in making a 2nd channel for content that is very similar or the same as you're main channel. For example: Having a main channel full of Lego videos and then making another channel for different Lego videos. 

The reason why I called ThebusofdoomFSX my 3rd channel is because I made a 2nd channel before I made Thebusofdoom. This 2nd channel was called Halosephiroth. On that channel I uploaded Halo related videos. Unfortunately the channel was a massive failure and I shut it down.

So remember, only make a 2nd channel when you have a large amount of video views, a constant fanbase and when you want to upload different content.
